Alcoa signs letter of intent to acquire Reynolds Metals Alloys assets.


PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1997--Alcoa announced today that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire the Reynolds Metals Reynolds Metals Company (RMC) was the second largest aluminum company in the United States, and the third largest in the world. The company became well-known for the consumer product Reynolds Wrap as well as being a leader in developing and promoting new uses for aluminum;  Company Alloys This is a list of alloys for which an article exists in Wikipedia (or is proposed but not yet written).

They are grouped by base metal, in order of increasing atomic number. Within these headings they are in no particular order.
 assets located in Muscle Shoals Muscle Shoals, town (1990 pop. 9,611), Colbert co., NW Ala., on the Tennessee River opposite Florence; inc. 1923. Chemicals, truck trailers, and nuts, screws, and bolts are manufactured.  and Sheffield, northern Alabama. Terms were not disclosed.

Direct responsibility for the Alloys assets will reside with the Alcoa Rigid Packaging business unit headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn. The Rigid Packaging unit has six operating facilities in four countries. It is one of 21 Alcoa business units.

Alcoa is the world's leading aluminum producer with 1996 revenues of $13.1 billion. The company has 178 operating locations in 28 countries.
