Alcoa driving castings for major automotive firms.Alcoa Inc., Pittsburgh, announced that its automotive castings business has been selected to produce the front and rear subflames for the 2006 Corvette corvette, small warship, classed between a frigate and a sloop-of-war. Corvettes usually were flush-decked and carried fewer than 28 guns. They were widely employed in escorting convoys and attacking merchant ships during the great naval wars of the late 18th and and Cadilhtc XLR XLR X-linked lymphocyte regulated XLR X-Linked Recessive (genetics) XLR Accelar (Nortel/Bay network switch) XLR Ground Left Right (digital audio) as well as steering knuckles for two 2005 GM vehicle programs. The one-piece, cast aluminum subframes will be produced at Alcoa's Kentucky Casting Center, Hawe,sville, Ky., and the knuckles will be produced at the company's Michigan Casting Center, Fruitport, Mich. The firm also announced that it has ,succe,s,sfully launched eight new cast aluminum wheels for Nis,san and Chusler Group. Alcoa operates cast wheel plants in Beloit, Wis adv. 1.
