Alcoa acquires Canadian die-casting machinery builder.


PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 1995--Alcoa has acquired DBM (DeciBels below 1 Milliwatt) A measurement of power loss in decibels using 1 milliwatt as the reference point. In addition, DBM will provide Alcoa with an in-house capability to manufacture advanced die-cast aluminum parts and custom die-casting machines, especially as part of our thrust into supplying world automakers with highly engineered aluminum parts and subassemblies. We will also involve DBM's expertise as an important element in Alcoa's contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop processes for producing ultra-large castings.''
