Alcoa Realigns Global Extrusion Assets into Two New Business Units to Serve Customers with Global Capacity and Capability; Dobson and Connerton Named to Lead New Units.

NEW YORK -- Alcoa announced today that it has realigned its global extrusion assets and technology to optimize its offerings to customers and better serve markets. The realignment includes the creation of two new business units: Alcoa Global Engineered Products and Alcoa Custom Extruded Solutions.

Alcoa's North American Engineered Products business is now Alcoa Global Engineered Products focusing on hard alloy extrusions and soft alloy rod and bar including cold finished products in North America, Latin America, Europe, Russia and Asia. David Dobson, currently President of Alcoa Engineered Products (North America), is appointed President of Global Engineered Products. He will remain based in Chicago, Illinois and will report to Helmut Wieser, Executive Vice President, Alcoa and Group President.

The realignment also includes a consolidation of Alcoa's global soft alloy assets into a new business unit, Alcoa Custom Extruded Solutions. Alcoa has substantial soft alloy extrusion capacity in the U.S., Brazil and Europe. Alcoa Custom Extruded Solutions, which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, will be led by Timothy P. Connerton as President, Alcoa Custom Extruded Solutions. He had been Strategy Director, Global Extruded and End Products. Mr. Connerton will report to Ric Belda, Executive Vice President, European Region and President, Global Extrusion and End Products.

From a financial reporting standpoint, both businesses' results are included in the Global Extrusions and End Products segment.

David Dobson

David Dobson joined Alcoa in December 2003 as president of Alcoa Engineered Products North America, responsible for 12 plants and multiple sales offices and service centers that produce or provide extrusions and tubes for various industries. Dave joined Alcoa from Pittsburgh-based Fisher Scientific Ltd., where he was vice president of the research division. Previously, he worked for more than 25 years for General Electric Company in key leadership positions in several GE businesses, including business development manager for the automotive sales and marketing group for GE Plastics, general manager of motors and controls for GE Industrial Systems, and president of North America for the GE Lighting business.

Timothy Connerton

Tim Connerton joined Alcoa in April 2005 as strategy director for the company's Global Extruded and End Products based in Geneva, Switzerland. He had worked in various senior level positions for 16 years with Norsk Hydro, the Norwegian energy and aluminum company. Norsk Hydro is the third largest integrated aluminum supplier in the world. His most recent position with Norsk Hydro was executive vice president, Extrusion South for Hydro Aluminium, Norsk's aluminum arm. This business has 12 companies and 20 production sites throughout Southern Europe, Latin America and South Africa. From 1997 until 2001 he served as president and managing director of Hydro Aluminium Chateauroux, France and prior to this assignment was Director of Hydro Aluminium's Building Systems unit based in Lausanne, Switzerland, responsible for global building systems strategy, sales and marketing, and business development. During his career with Norsk Hydro, he also served in other business development and strategic planning assignments first as director, Marketing, Business Development and Strategic Planning, responsible for major marketing and strategic projects in Asia, Europe and North America, and later as Project Director for Japan, responsible for creating and managing global strategic alliances with Japanese enterprises.
