Alcoa Issues 2006 Corporate Sustainability Highlights Report.

 -- Alcoa today announced it has released its 2006 Sustainability Highlights, which detail the company's global environmental, social and economic performance to deliver net long-term benefits to all stakeholders Stakeholders

It is about people and doing the right things-everyday and always--while continuously investing in the future," said Alcoa Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Alain Belda.

Some 2006 sustainability accomplishments include:

* Alcoa, as a founding member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership The U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), formed January 22, 2007 is a co-operative group of businesses and leading environmental organizations. * More than 140 leaders in conservation and sustainability attended the first Alcoa Foundation Advancing Sustainability Conference in Brussels. The gathering is part of the six-year, US$8.6 million Alcoa Foundation Conservation and Sustainability Fellowship Program designed to fund fellowships around the world to study conservation and sustainability issues.

* Alcoa held a global water summit attended by external experts in sustainable water management to raise awareness of the sensitivity of fresh water availability in certain regions of the world, allow best practice sharing, and identify several projects aimed at reducing water use.

* In 2006, Alcoa posted its highest annual sales (US$30.4 billion) and income from continuing operations continuing operations

* Alcoa's lost workday and total recordable injury rates remain significantly below national averages, with 82.3% of reporting locations having zero lost workdays compared to 61.5% in 2005. And 45.2% of locations had zero recordable injuries versus 31.4% the prior year.
