Alcoa Foundation Presents Grant of $10,000 to Medical College of Virginia Foundation.


RICHMOND, Va. -- Alcoa Consumer Products and Alcoa Flexible Packaging, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia Richmond IPA: [ɹɯʒmɐnɖ] is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States. , recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Medical College of Virginia History
The school was founded in 1838 as the Medical Department of Hampden-Sydney College. It received an independent charter from the General Assembly in 1854 and became the Medical College of Virginia, and shortly thereafter transferred all its property to the Commonwealth
 Foundation. The money represents a grant from the Alcoa Foundation and will be used to create the Alcoa Foundation Consult Room at the new Breast Imaging Center, now being planned for the VCU VCU Virginia Commonwealth University

The new center will feature state of the art Mammographic digital imaging equipment and stereotactic biopsy Stereotactic biopsy
A biopsy taken by precisely locating areas of abnormal growth through the use of delicate instruments.

Since her arrival at the Center in 1994, Dr. Paredes has earned national renown as a leading expert in the interpretation of breast cancer and will conduct a research study as part of the pilot program using the new Siemens digital imaging equipment being installed.
