Alcoa Fastening Systems Invited to Host Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Benchmarking Event with Lockheed Martin Corporation.

CARSON, Calif. -- Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) recently hosted a benchmarking event with Lockheed Martin's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) corporate directors, plant EHS managers and their consultants at AFS' Carson, California operation.

Lockheed Martin, a leader in the aerospace and defense industry and strategic partner of AFS, selected AFS as a key company with which to benchmark EHS management systems and practices. Alcoa (NYSE:AA) is known as one of the safest and environmentally friendly companies in America. Lockheed Martin specifically focused on learning how Alcoa handles fatality prevention and incident investigation, training, contractor safety, employee participation, culture change, and the Alcoa Self Assessment Tools (ASAT). The observations made by Lockheed Martin at the AFS facility will be combined and compared with observations made in a similar benchmarking event with the Toyota Motor Company.

The AFS Carson operation's Environmental and Health & Safety management systems have been recommended for third party ISO14001 and ISO18001 certification by the BSI Group, an international standards registrar, one of Alcoa's first locations to achieve this recognition.
