Alcoa Fastening Systems Fullerton Operations Receives Large Business of the Year Award.


FULLERTON, Calif. -- Alcoa Fastening Systems' (AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System.

Awards are presented annually, and are the highest recognition for demonstrating the spirit of entrepreneurship, active business leadership, trusted volunteer, contributor, neighbor, and friend of the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce and the Fullerton Community. The Fullerton-based AFS facility won the same award in 1989, and it is the first business to win this award a second time.
