Alcoa Fastening Systems Awarded Life of Program Contract by Pratt and Whitney.

:AA), today announced a major contract award with Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation. The life-of-program award covers the supply of the Weld-Stud Fastening System for the F119 engine nozzle An orifice in an inkjet print head through which ink is sprayed onto the paper. Print heads with six thousand or more nozzles are common in today's printers.

Aircraft designed primarily to secure control of essential airspace by destroying enemy aircraft in combat. Designed for high speed and maneuverability, they are armed with weapons capable of striking other aircraft in flight.

The Weld-Stud System, including its shop-floor assembly and removal tooling, was developed by Alcoa Fastening Systems product and tooling engineers with requirements defined by key Pratt & Whitney production and engineering personnel. The total value of the award approaches $17 million at projected F/A-22 build rates.
