Alcoa Electronic Packaging Furloughs All Employees.SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1995--Alcoa Electronic Packaging, Inc. (AEP AEP - Application Environment Profile ), a subsidiary of Alcoa, announced today that it would furlough fur·lough n. 1. a. A leave of absence or vacation, especially one granted to a member of the armed forces. b. A usually temporary layoff from work. c. its entire 1,200-person workforce indefinitely in·def·i·nite adj. Not definite, especially: a. Unclear; vague. b. Lacking precise limits: an indefinite leave of absence. c. . AEP indicated it was told by its principal customer, Intel Corporation (company) Intel Corporation - A US microelectronics manufacturer. They produced the Intel 4004, Intel 8080, Intel 8086, Intel 80186, Intel 80286, Intel 80386, Intel 486 and Pentium microprocessor families as well as many other integrated circuits and personal computer networking , during the week of November 13, 1995 that its orders were being severely curtailed. Yesterday (December 20, 1995), Intel advised AEP that there would be no new orders for AEP as Intel rationalized its supplier base. AEP is evaluating its options and responsibilities.
