Alcoa's Howmet increases melt capacity at Whitehall plant.


Alcoa's Howmet Products and Services, Cleveland, increased its melt capacity with the addition of a new vacuum furnace A Vacuum furnace is a type of furnace that can heat materials, typically metals, to very high temperatures and carry out processes such as brazing, sintering and heat treatment with high consistency and low contamination.  at the company's manufacturing facility in Whitehall, Mich. The new furnace furnace, enclosed space for the burning of fuel. There are many kinds of furnaces, the type depending upon the fuel and the use to which the heat produced within it is put. Most familiar are the furnaces used in the heating of buildings.  will soon contribute to the melt operation as part of a capacity enhancement program.

The new furnace will be dedicated to airfoil manufacturing to support the needs of aero-engine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers.
