Net sales Net Sales The amount a seller receives from the buyer after costs associated with the sale are deducted. Notes: This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight of $2,032,489 for the company's second quarter ended Nov. 30, 1994 were 45% higher than first quarter sales, and were equal to second quarter sales one year ago. Net income of $394,798 was 89% higher than first quarter net income and 25% higher than the second quarter last year. Commenting on the sales and earnings performance, Joseph A. Sasenick, president, chief executive officer, stated, "We continue to be encouraged by the strong performance of the company's international distributors. Our international shipments for the first half year were $1.1 million, a 30% increase over the first half last year. We are also beginning to see a recovery in our shipments to American Breeders Service (ABS), our distributor for North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. . However, sales to ABS for the quarter continued to reflect the impact of a reduction in Alcide inventory by ABS which we estimate to be greater than $600,000 during Alcide's fiscal first half. At this point it appears that both ABS and international distributors are experiencing strong retail demand and that they are comfortable with their inventory positions. At the end of November, orders for future delivery totalled $2.4 million as compared to $1.7 million at the end of Alcide's first quarter."
