Alcide and Novus Announce Agreement Termination.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1998--Alcide Corp. (Nasdaq:ALCD) and Novus International Inc. today announced the termination of their May 21, 1997 Agreement covering Novus's distribution of Alcide Sanova(R) food antimicrobial to the poultry industry, effective November 30, 1998.

As a result of this decision Alcide will now sell and distribute Sanova directly to the poultry processing industry which comprises some 200 plants in the United States. The Sanova Food Quality System has been installed and has generated successful results in five commercial plants. Additional plants have indicated they intend to utilize the system and should be operational before year end.

Dr. W. Joseph Privott, Novus President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "We believe that under controlled conditions the Sanova chemistry is the most effective food antimicrobial available to the industry. Unfortunately, the investment necessary to introduce the product and the margins generated do not provide sufficient return for sharing by two companies.
