Alcide Corp. announces financial results for fiscal year 1996 first quarter ended Aug. 31, 1995.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 1995--Alcide Corp. (NASDAQ:ALCD) today announced record net sales and net income for its fiscal first quarter. -0-

First quarter fiscal year 1996 sales of $2,608,745 were 86 percent higher than first quarter sales one year ago. Net income of $504,139 for the quarter ended Aug. 31, 1995, was 142 percent higher than the corresponding quarter last year.

Commenting on the sales and earnings performance, Joseph A. Sasenick, president and chief executive officer, stated, "We are encouraged by the strong performance of all of the company's distributors. ABS Global, which represents Alcide in North and South America, posted an 83 percent increase in its purchase of Alcide's products.

"This increase reflects market share growth in the United States, along with the January introduction of UDDERgold Plus in U.S. markets, the introduction of 4XLA into Canadian markets and expansion in several key Latin American countries.

"We are equally pleased with the performance of our international distributors who, collectively, increased sales 109 percent over the first quarter last year. Each of our international distributors has increased its share of market, and we have opened new markets during the past year in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Spain and Portugal."

Alcide Corp. develops and markets infection control products having unique biocidal characteristics based on the company's patented technology. Alcide currently sells anti-infective products to the animal health market and disinfecting products to the medical and automotive industries.
