Alcatel and Finmeccanica have received approval from the European Commission for the creation of the two companies Alcatel Alenia Space and Telespazio. The licensing granting commitments for the new companies are focused in the areas of telemetry, tracking and control products and radar altimeters. Legal and financial activities should be completed by early July 2005.
