Alcatel to Add Two New Buildings in Texas Telecom Corridor; Plans include 300,000 square feet new space to accommodate growth.

: ALA) today announced it will break ground in the fourth quarter this year for a new 100,000 square-foot three-story office building here in response to the company's growing worldwide business.

The company also has plans for an additional 200,000-square-foot six-story office building that could be occupied by early 2002.

In total, the two campus additions will have space for 1,200 offices. When the two new buildings are completed, Alcatel's Plano campus will have more than 2,046,000 square feet of space. Alcatel currently employs 6,500 in the Dallas metroplex A metroplex is large metropolitan area containing several cities and their suburbs.[1] It is also sometimes used as an alternative to metropolis or megalopolis, which is a chain of continuous metropolitan areas. . Total cost of the new buildings will be more than $52 million, not including land.
