Alcatel and Hewlett-Packard announce strategic agreement to support SONET Management Products.


RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 1995--Alcatel Network Systems and The Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) today announced a comprehensive agreement to cooperate on network management technologies critical to Synchronous Optical Networks (networking) Synchronous Optical NETwork - (SONET) A broadband networking standard based on point-to-point optical fibre networks. SONET will provide a high-bandwidth "pipe" to support ATM-based services.  (SONET). This alliance is based on an agreement to cross-license a key Transaction Language 1 (TL1) network software interface and the accompanying software modules for support of multi-vendor networks.

This alliance will allow Alcatel and HP to provide customized solutions for a wide variety of network components on both the HP OpenView HP OpenView was a Hewlett Packard product range consisting of an extensive portfolio of network and systems management products.
