By the same measure, Alcatel's SpeedTouch ADSL Modem shipments reached 190,000 units worldwide in the first quarter of 2000, a 375 percent increase over the same period one year earlier. Additionally, in the first quarter of 2000, Alcatel Microelectronics supplied 1.7 million ADSL chipsets worldwide. The Alcatel chipset is featured in a large number of products participating in this year's interoperability showcase.
