Alcatel Signs Agreement to Supply LMDS Equipment to Prime Companies, Inc.

) today announced that they have signed an agreement to use Alcatel's Local Multipoint Distribution System (wireless) Local Multipoint Distribution System - (LMDS) A broadband wireless technology.  (LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution Service) A digital wireless transmission system that works in the 28 GHz range in the U.S. and 24-40 GHz overseas. It requires line of sight between transmitter and receiving antenna, which can be from one to four miles apart ) equipment in Prime Companies' high-speed broadband wireless access network for small- and medium-sized businesses.

This agreement involves the deployment and management of Prime Companies' LMDS (28GHz) network using Alcatel's LMDS solution. In conjunction with LMDS Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of Prime Companies, Alcatel has been conducting field trials of its LMDS solution in New Castle, Pennsylvania New Castle is a city in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; in 1910, the total population was 36,280; in 1920, 44,938; and in 1940, 47,638.
