Alcatel Signs 145-million Euro Global Agreement with Vodacom For Deployment of GSM Networks in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This global agreement will enable Vodacom Congo to enhance its existing GSM infrastructure by using Alcatel's latest products and services, which are compatible with GPRS/EDGE and are UMTS-ready. Alcatel will conduct the global project management, from network planning and design Network planning and design is an iterative process, encompassing topological design, network-synthesis, and network-realization, and is aimed at ensuring that a new network or service meets the needs of the subscriber and operator [1].  to implementation, including installation, integration, site construction as well as network testing and commissioning on a turnkey basis.

Alcatel will supply Vodacom Congo with its Evolium solution, composed of radio access network (base stations and base station controllers) and mobile switching centers. Alcatel's solution also includes an Intelligent Network platform offering value-added services such as prepaid mobile solution, voice mail system and a short message service center.
