Alcatel Forms Strategic Alliance With interWAVE to Provide Enterprises With Corporate Mobility.

Alcatel and interWAVE Communications International, Ltd., a global provider of compact wireless network systems for the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) A digital cellular phone technology based on TDMA that is the predominant system in Europe, but also used worldwide. Developed in the 1980s, GSM was first deployed in seven European countries in 1992.  communications market, today jointly announced that they have formed a strategic alliance to provide corporate mobility solutions to enterprises.

The alliance is based on a multi-year supply and joint cooperation agreement designed to complement Alcatel's PBX (Private Branch eXchange) An inhouse telephone switching system that interconnects telephone extensions to each other as well as to the outside telephone network (PSTN).  range with interWAVE's product line for cellular mobility, including GSM-over-IP networks.
