Alcatel today announces that its next-generation network strategy will enable service providers to seamlessly migrate their circuit switched networks into IP data-centric networks by deploying the new Alcatel 1000 Call Server.

The announcement reinforces Alcatel's commitment to deliver to new and established service providers the network solutions they need to capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

For example, peer-to-peer networks are overlay networks on the Internet. They use their own addressing system for determining how files are distributed and accessed, which provides a layer on top of the Internet's IP addressing. . The open, software-based call server will provide carrier grade services that can be quickly deployed by service providers meeting increasing competitive challenges in liberalized markets. "Alcatel has a clear vision of the converged future and through the Alcatel 2iP (TM) program we are making this vision a reality," said Krish Prabhu of Alcatel. "The concept of the call server lays the foundation of a norm architecture for the data-centric networks required by both new and established operators. Up to now, no vendor has been able to offer carriers an integrated, robust platform for combined IP and voice networking. Alcatel is meeting that challenge."

Key features of the Alcatel 1000 call server include call control functionalities for data-centric applications that can be deployed either stand-alone or as an integral part of existing networks to offload To remove work from one computer and do it on another. Based on proven carrier-class hardware and software design, the highly scalable Alcatel 1000 Call Server will provide tandem, local, and international gateway features on a distributed regional platform. The demonstration includes local and centrex services, which are key features for Class 5 bypass applications.

"The Alcatel 1000 call server offers local and long-haul carriers a practical migration strategy to a next generation network architecture that is simple, flexible, cost-effective, and more responsive to the needs of their customers," said Etienne Fouques, President of Alcatel's switching and routing activities. "Revenue generation can be enhanced not only through lower operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales , but also through faster rollout of new services. With the convergence of voice and data on a single network, the need for expensive overlay networks will be eliminated."
