The Icelandic tenor's debut album is a stunning collection of classical standards, including Nessun Dorma and Granada, and imaginative versions of pop hits like A-Ha's Hunting High and Low. Jenkins duets on Where The Lost Ones Go. SHADOWS FALL: Threads of Life VERDICT: ***** COMBINING thrash and metalcore, the Massachusetts metal maestros have produced their finest work since 2002's The Art of Balance with this freight train of an album. Opening track Redemption gives a taste of what the band are all about. And the twin guitar axis of Matt Bachand and Jonathan Donais has surely got to be one of the most under-rated in the world right now. PORCUPINE porcupine, in zoology porcupine, member of either of two rodent families, characterized by having some of its hairs modified as bristles, spines, or quills. TREE: Fear Of A Blank Planet VERDICT: ***** FROM the opening title track you can tell that frontman front·man n. 1. also front man A man who serves as a nominal leader but who lacks real authority. 2. Music A leading singer with a group. Steven Wilson is back, lyrically and musically, to his scathing, analysing best. My only concern is the song Anesthetize a·nes·the·tize v. To induce anesthesia in. an·es the·ti·za tion n. , which, despite having Rush's
Alex Lifeson contributing on it, is at 17 minutes 42 seconds far too
long. Catch Porcupine Tree at Wolverhampton Wulfrun on April 23.
