Albon Head to Chair TG Board of Directors.


ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The TG board of directors has elected a new slate of officers to serve for the 2006 fiscal year. Albon O. Head Jr., managing partner of the Fort Worth office for Jackson Walker, LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol , has been named chair of the board. Ruben E. Esquivel, vice president for community and corporate relations for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, will serve as vice chair; and Tommy Brooks, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Unity National Bank, will serve as board secretary.

As chair of the board, Head will provide leadership for one of the nation's largest guarantors in the Federal Family Education Loan Program The Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) is a United States Department of Education program that provides for private organizations to market, originate, and service federally guaranteed loans, such as Stafford and PLUS loans to students and their parents.  (FFELP FFELP Federal Family Education Loan Program ), helping to ensure access to higher education for more than 350,000 students and families each year. TG currently guarantees more than $3 billion annually for student and parent FFELP borrowers. The company also assists students by providing information and guidance throughout the student's educational journey -- from planning for college to successfully managing repayment of student loans. He has served on the board since his appointment by Governor George W. Bush in 1999.

Head is a member of the American and Tarrant County Bar Associations, the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. He is a founding Master of the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court, and a member of the Fort Worth chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In addition to his professional associations, Head is active in many civic and charitable organizations. He is the chairman of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, past-chair of the Fort Worth Opera Fort Worth Opera is the oldest, continually performing opera company in the state of Texas and among the oldest in the United States. It performs 3-4 operas per year in Bass Performance Hall located in the downtown area of Fort Worth, Texas. , the YMCA Camp Carter Camp Carter is a 300-acre summer camp retreat in Fort Worth, Texas for children ages 6-16 years old and is under ownership of the YMCA. Camp Carter has offered various activities such as sailing, canoeing, as well as Outdoor Living Skills. , and the Southern Methodist University Southern Methodist University, at Dallas, Tex.; United Methodist; coeducational; chartered 1911. He serves on the Executive Board of SMU's Dedman School of Law The Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, is a law school located in Dallas, Texas. Founded in February 1925, the school was renamed Dedman School of Law in February 2001 in honor of its benefactors, the late Robert H. Dedman Sr.  and chairs the University's Distinguished Law Alumni Award Committee. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the SMU-in-Taos campus.

Ruben Esquivel, vice chair, was first appointed to the TG board in 1997 by Governor George W. Bush. Tommy Brooks, secretary, was appointed to the TG board in 2002 by Governor Rick Perry. A resident of Sugar Land, Brooks is involved in numerous civic and community organizations. Specifically, he serves on the boards of the National Bankers Association, Joy Baptist Tabernacle, Inner City Youth, and the Hope for Houston charter school.
