Albion seek Jay's spark.

Byline: Chris Lepkowski

JAY Simpson Jay Simpson (born December 27 1988 in London) is an English footballer who currently plays for League One side Millwall on loan from Premier League side Arsenal. He plays as an attacking midfielder or winger.

Simpson has been at Arsenal since he was a boy.
has been challenged to put the spark back into his and Albion's season.

The 20-year-old's form has dipped in recent weeks, following his return to action after a hamstring injury hamstring injury Sports medicine A muscle injury of biceps femoris, seen in sprinters and runners, when a contracted muscle meets a lengthening force, overpowering intrinsic muscle resiliency Management RICE, NSAIDs, gradual ↑ of pain-free activity–eg, .

the touch which impressed early on during his loan spell from Arsenal.

"I'd like to think he can re-energise our season but everyone who plays has that chance," said Mowbray.

"Jay burst on to the scene in the first few games and did really well. He pulled a hamstring at Burnley but has he reached the same heights since then? "Probably not, although he has the talent and individuality to hurt teams and score goals.

"He will have an opportunity to play but we have talented players who can do that.

"He's still only a young boy. He was at Millwall last season and it's a huge step he's taken to come and play in the Premier League for us, yet he's applied himself well.

"He's got a lovely personality, he wants to learn and he's really a credit to Arsenal and himself.

"I am not putting him up there as the saviour but he's a young lad who has talent. It's about the team finding levels of performance to win football matches." Mowbray conceded it was too early for Albion to know whether he would be granted another loan move by the Gunners.

The Baggies would like to take him for next season, regardless of which division they are in.

Mowbray added: "I have no strong feelings on Jay, other than wanting him to contribute and get enough points and victories for us.

"I am only really focused on this season. Any conversations we have at the moment, the bottom line is that I'm sure Arsenal will assess where we are and if he was my player, I'd want him in for pre-season so I could assess him for myself.

"There is a lot of water to go under the bridge before we need to concern ourselves with that."
