WEST Bromwich West Bromwich (brŭm`ĭj, –ĭch, brŏm`wĭch), city (1991 pop. 146,386), Sandwell metropolitan district, W central England.  Albion fans hoping the club would beam back their final match of the season to The Hawthorns on Sunday have had their hopes dashed.

Thousands of fans of the Baggies, who clinched promotion to the Premiership on Monday, have been frozen out of the climax to the season at Queens Park Rangers.

They were hoping to persuade the club to arrange to show the match in London, which could see West Brom clinch the Championship, on screen at The Hawthorns.

"The local authority will not allow us to look into this at such a late stage as it would raise a number of safety and traffic management issues."

Lifelong Albion fan Steve Nash, who had spearheaded a campaign to get the Albion to beam back the big game, said today he was very disappointed.

"It is a shame because there are thousands of fans clamouring to see the game, but I accept there are good reasons why it cannot happen."
