Albertsons debuts new wines and spirits.


The Albertsons chain of more than 2,500 retail stores in 37 states has launched a line of small-batch spirits and several different types of wines. The products will be available exclusively at select Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Sav-on Drugs and Osco Drug Osco Drug is a chain of pharmacy stores which operate under Supervalu Pharmacies. Most Oscos currently can be found in Jewel supermarkets. Since 2006, Osco is a wholly owned subsidiary of Supervalu Pharmacies of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu.  stores, where legal.

This launch is an extension of the heightened wine program Albertsons initiated last year, with the debut of its Origin and Q Collection wines, which the company is now adding to in its latest effort to "solidify Albertsons position as a leader in fine wines and spirits," according to according to

The new Q Collection wines are limited releases from several highly acclaimed California appellations, including a Dry Creek Dry Creek may refer to:

  • Dry Creek, Upper Central Valley, a tributary of the Sacramento River

The Origin Collection series now includes small lot wines sourced from a variety of wine-growing regions or vineyards within a particular country, such as a 2002 Spanish Tempranillo, a New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  2004 Sauvignon Blanc, and an Australian Coonawarra 2001 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines range from $19.99 to $30.99 per bottle.

Albertsons has also launched the Flourish line of seven organically grown wines from several countries, such as a 2003 Pinot Grigio from Veneto, Italy, and a 2003 Merlot from Vin Pays D'Oc, France. They sell for $8.99 to $11.99. The Voyage line of three-liter varietal box wines ($17.99 to $27.99 each) has also debuted. It includes Australian Shiraz and Monterey Chardonnay, among several others.

The Origine line of small-batch ultra-premium spirits and champagne is also new to Albertsons. It includes a bourbonaged eight years, a French Vodka, VS and VSOP VSOP very special (or superior) old pale: used of brandy or port  Cognacs, a 12-year-old single malt Scotch Single Malt Scotch is a type of single malt whisky, distilled by a single distillery in a pot still, using malted barley as the only grain ingredient in Scotland. As with any Scotch whisky, a Single Malt Scotch must be distilled in Scotland and matured in oak casks in Scotland for  and a Premier Cru Champagne. Prices range from $23.99 to $40.99 per bottle.
