Albertson's, Inc. & American Stores Co. Receive Additional Information Request From FTC Regarding Merger and Announce Date for the Special Meetings of Stockholders.BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1998--Albertson's, Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :ABS) and American Stores American Stores was the name of a United States chain of supermarkets. As a result of this request, the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period is extended until 20 days following the companies' substantial compliance with the request. The companies also announced that the special meetings of stockholders for the purpose of considering the proposed merger will be held on November 12, 1998.
