Alberta--Calgary Bishop Frederick Henry has been given the Cardinal von Galen award by Human Life International.


Alberta -- Calgary Bishop Frederick Henry Frederick Henry, 1584–1647, prince of Orange; son of William the Silent by Louise de Coligny. He became stadtholder of the United Provinces of the Netherlands upon the death (1625) of his brother Maurice of Nassau.  has been given the Cardinal von Galen award by Human Life International. The quarterly award is bestowed on a Catholic prelate PRELATE. The name of an ecclesiastical officer. There are two orders of prelates; the first is composed of bishops, and the second, of abbots, generals of orders, deans, &c.  who is a public voice of conscience in his community. Bishop Henry has earned it through his unswerving loyalty to Church teachings and his courage in publicly speaking out and writing in defence of it. The award is named for Cardinal August von Galen, Bishop of Muenster during the Hitler era in Germany. Von Galen publicly denounced Hitler's euthanasia euthanasia (y'thənā`zhə), either painlessly putting to death or failing to prevent death from natural causes in cases of terminal illness or irreversible coma.  of disabled adults and children program. During the federal government's promotion of same-sex "marriage" legislation in 2004, Alberta Premier Ralph Klein promised to bring in provincial legislation allowing clergy and marriage commissioners to refuse to perform same-sex "marriages." In November 2005, Klein delayed the legislation until spring 2006. Alberta, the only province to oppose the federal legislation, will ensure that marriage commissioners are available to "marry" same-sex couples A same-sex couple is a pair of people of the same gender who pursue a romantic or sexual relationship together.

The term "same-sex relationship" may be used when the sexual orientation of participants in a same-sex relationship is not known.

 Marriage Canada in a massive campaign to mobilize 100,000 Albertans in support of a constitutional amendment motion to enshrine traditional marriage. Any legislation brought in by the Klein government must also include protection for schools against mandatory homosexual teaching....

The Alberta government also will introduce legislation to allow children to sue their mothers for car crash injuries they sustain while in the womb. The narrowly-written legislation is opposed by automobile insurers who would have to pay out for successful claims. Mothers would not be personally responsible for costs.

The legislation was initiated as a result of an accident in which a pregnant woman lost control of her car and crashed. The baby, born four months later, was blind and brain-damaged, and had cerebral palsy cerebral palsy (sərē`brəl pôl`zē), disability caused by brain damage before or during birth or in the first years, resulting in a loss of voluntary muscular control and coordination. . The family believed that the little girl, now four years of age, has the disabilities as a result of the accident. The mother herself cannot be sued because of a 1999 Supreme Court decision that prevents children from making claims against their mothers for events that happened before they were born (Canada.com News)....
