ALBERTA B beat Catholic Club 3-1 in the South Tyneside South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear in North East England.

The Alberta took a 2-0 lead after the triples and the first singles.

Dean Apes scored the Catholic Club's first point in his win over Mark Newsome, but victories for Andy Heley and Paul Edmonds gave Alberta the match.

Steady scoring by Top Club saw them overcome Jolly Stewart 4-0.

In the board one final, Top Club were first out of the blocks as they raced into a 2-0 lead.

However, a fightback by the Alberta saw Paul Edmond and Andy Heley triumph to make it 2-2.

With Mark Newsome and Paul Edmonds winning again, it was the Alberta who then emerged victorious 4-2.

On board two, The Catholic Club B2 played the Alberta B1 - and it was the Alberta who took the lead when Peter Graves took the first leg.

A 140, 14 x20 was enough for Dave Whitehead to level, and Jamie Harte (180) x16 put the Catholic Club ahead.

Andy Nellist extended his team's advantage and, with Dave Whitehead winning the next leg on the second rundown of the singles, it was the Catholic Club who won 4-1.

Catholic Club took a 2-0 lead, only for the Top Club to win the next three legs to give them a 3-2 advantage.

Andy Nellist then made it 3-3 in his victory over Gary Porter, so it was all on the last match between Brian Campbell and Jamie Harte.

Harte started off with 100, 100, 85, 81 and 95, but it was Campbell who won it when he hit 140, 100, 100,100 and x20.

Dave Sinclair then made it 2-2 by beating Paul Frampton and Alberta went 3-2 up when Ernie Ives won the next leg.

Steve Hogg set up a decider as his win made it 3-2 - but Sinclair triumphed in his the leg to put Alberta Bar into the final.

Wheatsheaf went into a 2-0 lead, only for Alberta to pull it back to 2-2.

Steve Taylor put the Wheatsheaf 3-2 up with victory over Billy Gowans.

Next on was Dave Tinmouth and Ernie Ives.

Tinmouth started off with 140 and 124, but it was Ives with 123,100 and 95 x16 who win to make it 3-3.

Sinclair then disposed of Kenny Rowe to put Alberta Bar into the last eight 4-3.
