Alberta consulting on protection for people in care. (General).


EDMONTON Edmonton (ĕd`məntən), city (1991 pop. 616,741), provincial capital, central Alta., Canada, on the North Saskatchewan River. The center of the largest metropolitan area in Alberta, Edmonton, known as the "Gateway to the North," is located  -- Alberta is seeking public reactions on its Protection for Persons in Care Act. A public discussion guide and questionnaire are available online or by request.

The guide and questionnaire address some of the issues surrounding sur·round

 the Protection for Persons in Care Act, including:

* the Act's definition of abuse,

* whether the scope of the act should be expanded,

* if reporting should be mandatory in all circumstances CIRCUMSTANCES, evidence. The particulars which accompany a fact.
     2. The facts proved are either possible or impossible, ordinary and probable, or extraordinary and improbable, recent or ancient; they may have happened near us, or afar off; they are public or
,

* how the outcomes of investigation should be addressed, and

* if there should be a right to appeal decisions.

The act is intended to prevent abuse of adults in care through education and deterrence deterrence

Military strategy whereby one power uses the threat of reprisal to preclude an attack from an adversary. The term largely refers to the basic strategy of the nuclear powers and the major alliance systems.

The Act came into force in 1998 and includes provisions for a legislative review.

The Protection for Persons in Care Act applies to adults in facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes and other care settings.
