Alberta Star: Dr. H. Mumin Delivers Presentation on Magmatic-Hydrothermal Iron-Oxide-Copper-Gold Silver and Uranium Deposits at the GAC Annual Spring Technical Meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Tim Coupland, President of Alberta Star Development Corp. (ASX) (TSX VENTURE:ASX)(OTCBB:ASXSF) is pleased to report that Dr. Hamid Mumin, Faculty of Science, Brandon University and Alberta Star's qualified person for Contact Lake IOCG Project, was an invited speaker at the GAC annual spring technical meeting in St. John's, Newfoundland on February 20-21, 2006 and delivered a presentation on Magmatic-hydrothermal iron-oxide, copper, gold, silver, uranium deposits.

Dr. Mumin, of Brandon University commented, "that despite their attractive economic potential, IOCG deposits have only just recently emerged as a deposit type of choice for exploration in Canada. Vast and largely unexplored, highly prospective terrains abound which include: the Great Bear Magmatic Zone (GBMZ), Central Mineral Belt, Grenville Province, Labrador, and Wernecke Mountains. Many of these districts host past producing mines that are now re-classified as IOCG style of deposit types. The Great Bear Magmatic Zone which includes the Contact Lake Mineral Belt, hosts 10 past producing mines that exploited high grade Uranium-Silver-Copper deposits that are best described as quartz-carbonate-hematite rich IOCG associated epithermal vein systems. In Canada, the former mines of the Great Bear Magmatic Zone comprise an extensive IOCG province with proven uranium potential. Uranium occurs primarily as pitchblende, and is not uncommon as small veins peripheral or distal to the centers of hydrothermal alteration and mineralization. Due to their unique metal association, IOCG deposits can be targeted during exploration using, magnetic, gravity, and multi-parameter radiometric geophysical surveys. Olympic Dam magmatic hydrothermal iron-oxide copper, gold style of deposits are attractive targets for exploration and development due to their poly-metallic nature and enormous size and grade potential. The Olympic Dam Mine in Australia is quoted by WMC (Western Mining Corp.) as containing 3.81 Billion tones @ 1.1% Cu, 0.5 g/t Au and 400 g/t U308. Other examples include Kiruna in Sweden, Bayan Obo in China, Candelaria in Chile, and Salobo in Brazil."

The Contact Lake claim block and surrounding area host extensive IOCG-type of hydrothermal alterations, including large mineralized gossans that exceed 1 kilometer in lateral extent. The Contact Lake mineral belt has not been properly explored using advanced 21st Century geophysical exploration techniques and incorporating the newly developed IOCG-epithermal deposit model type applications. Due to the areas unique IOCG metal association, targeting will include magnetic, gravity and multi-parameter radiometric geophysical ground and airborne surveys The Contact Lake mineral belt is approximately 15 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide. Extensive exploration and drilling is scheduled to commence in late April-May.
