Albert G. Lazaro, 84.


MILLBURY Albert G. Lazaro, 84, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 29th 2009 surrounded by family.

Albert was born February 8th 1925 in Cambridge, Ma a son of Samuel and Josephine Lazaro. He graduated from Cambridge High school Cambridge High School may refer to:

 , served his country proudly for eight years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as a gunner's mate The United States Navy occupational rating of Gunner's Mate (abbreviated as GM) is a designation given by the Bureau of Naval Personnel (BUPERS) to enlisted members who either satisfactorily complete initial Gunner's Mate "A" school training, or who "strike" for the rating  aboard the destroyer Beatty earning several medals and ribbons including the Victory Medal Victory Medal can refer to one of three military decorations:

, American and European theatre ribbons. Upon returning home, Albert met and married his beloved wife Yvonne S. (Long) Lazaro. Together they lived and raised their family for 58 years in Worcester and Millbury.

Albert was very much a devoted family man, who cherished being with and around them. He leaves behind, the love of his life for 58 years, Yvonne (Long) Lazaro ; his devoted and beloved six children, Albert G. Lazaro, Jr. and his wife Juliana of Grafton, Richard Grafton, Richard, d. c.1572, London publisher and printer. In 1539 with Edward Whitchurch he printed the Great Bible in black letter (see type). He printed the first edition of the Book of Common Prayer also in black letter.  J. , Michael, Alicia, Katie, William, Matthew, Richard Matthew and Carolyn; two adored great grandchildren, Aiden and Browan; many nieces, nephews extended family and friends who loved and will miss him dearly. A son, Albert, a granddaughter Marion and two brothers, George and Alfred all predeceased him.

Albert worked more than 45 years as a Heavy Equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) is a labor union within the AFL-CIO representing primarily construction workers who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, surveyors, and stationary engineers, who maintain heating and other systems in buildings and , Local 4 for various construction companies including The Barletta Construction Corporation before retiring in 1987.

Albert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes The apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes began when Bernadette Soubirous, a 14-year old peasant girl from Lourdes, when questioned by her mother, admitted that she had seen a "lady" in the cave of Massabielle, about a mile from the town, on 11 February, 1858, while she was gathering  Church, and the IOUE Local 4. He enjoyed antiques, history and travel, but most of all just being with his family.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 3rd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held Saturday, October 3rd from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
