Albany International acquires Schieffer Door Systems.

ALBANY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 1996--Albany International Corp. (AIN:NYSE/PSE) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Schieffer GmbH & Co. KG to buy Schieffer Door Systems, located in Lippstadt, Germany, for approximately $25 million.

Schieffer Door Systems, like Albany's Nomafa Door Division, is engaged in the design, production, and sale of high-speed, high-performance industrial doors. Combining Schieffer Door Systems' annual sales of approximately $31 million with Nomafa's annual sales of approximately $55 million will position Albany as the world market leader in this rapidly growing segment of the industrial door business. Nomafa has been in the high-performance door business since the mid-1980s, when it conceived and patented the high-speed roll door concept using durable coated fabrics.
