, the leading French-language school in the U.S., was inaugurated by French President Jacques Chirac at a ceremony at the school's new Upper East Side campus in Septmember.

Developed by the Albanese Organization, designed by Polshek Partnership and constructed by F.J. Sciame Construction, the project created a new home for the Lycee Francais which consolidated six smaller buildings into a single K-12 campus at 505 East 75th Street at York Avenue York Avenue is a short north-south thoroughfare on the East Side of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It runs from 59th Street north to 91st Street on the Upper East Side. It is known for its upscale apartments, much like the rest of the Upper East Side. .

Stretching a full city block to East 76 Street, the 157,000 SF complex is composed of a 5-story building housing the lower school and a 6-story building for the middle and upper schools, joined by an enclosed bridge and a unified first floor.

Two below-grade floors created by removing 30 ft. of solid bedrock house two gymnasiums and a 350-seat auditorium serving the entire school. Incorporating a variety of elements to facilitate a healthy learning environment, the building's above-grade features include glass walls to permit maximum light and a central air system for optimum indoor air quality Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) deals with the content of interior air that could affect health and comfort of building occupants. The IAQ may be compromised by microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), chemicals (such as carbon monoxide, radon), allergens, or any mass or energy stressor  (IAQ IAQ Indoor Air Quality

As owner's representative, the Albanese Organization was responsible for assembling the project team and overseeing all design and construction work.

"The two below-grade floors were especially difficult to construct since they required the removal of 30 feet of rock and eight-ft. deep concrete beams to create the 70-foot clear column-free spans required.

Once the foundations were completed, we were in a race to complete the shell and interior finishes to ensure the Lycee would be able to occupy the building for the beginning of the school year," said Jack Becker, Albanese Executive Vice President and Project Executive for the Lycee assignment.
