) will begin nonstop round-trip service from Seattle to Los Cabos Los Cabos is a municipality located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur. It encompasses the towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, as well as the Resort Corridor that lies between the two.  and Puerto Vallarta Puerto Vallarta (pwār`tō väyär`tä), city (1990 pop. 93,503), Jalisco state, W Mexico. Located on the expansive Bahía de Banderas [Bay of Flags], Puerto Vallarta has been used since the 16th cent.  effective October 31, 1999.

Flights in both markets will operate on Saturday and Sunday with 140-seat Boeing MD-83 aircraft.

"These new nonstop services are really a testament to the success of our Mexico operations," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's vice president of marketing and planning. "Now our customers in Alaska, Canada and the Pacific Northwest will have an even more convenient way to travel to our most popular resort destinations -- with one less stop than before, while sunseekers in Seattle will be less than five hours from the beach!"

Alaska Airlines began flying to Mexico in 1988 and currently serves Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and La Paz. The carrier is also planning to begin service Oct. 25 to a sixth Mexican resort destination: Manzanillo/Costa Alegre. The new Seattle nonstops to Mexico and service to Manzanillo/Costa Alegre will be available for sale, subject to government approval, in reservation systems on June 13, 1999.
