Alaska Trucking Association Names Lynden Transport's Fred Johnston Driver of the Year.

Fred Johnston, a driver for Lynden Transport, has been named "Driver of the Year" by the Alaska Trucking Association (ATA (1) (AT Attachment) The specification for IDE drives. See IDE.

). The award is presented annually to an Alaskan professional truck driver who holds a first-class driving record and demonstrates outstanding professionalism and courtesy, both on and off the road. This year's award was presented at the ATA's 44th Annual Reception and Meeting on March 14th.

 over 3.5 million miles since 1974. His scheduled twice-weekly run takes him to areas between Haines and Anchorage, averaging 13,000 to 14,000 miles a month. Prior to joining Lynden Transport, Johnston drove for Air Van Lines from 1965 to 1974. He and his wife, Susan, live in Haines, Alaska Haines is a city in Haines Borough, Alaska, United States. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 1,811. Haines has no municipal government; in November 2002, voters approved a measure consolidating the city of Haines and the Haines Borough into a home rule borough. .
