"The Alaska Troopers first ordered 35 ADVANCED TASERs in April 2000. To see a follow-up order that nearly triples their first order is a mark of success and a significant milestone for TASER International Inc. "The total purchase order of 96 M26s plus accessories is valued at approximately $51,000 and will provide a tremendous upgrade in less-lethal technology for the Alaska State Troopers," continued Smith.

"Less-lethal technology will allow the Alaska State Troopers and Village Public Safety Officers to better serve the citizens in their communities," said Colonel Randy Crawford, director of the Alaska State Troopers. "The ADVANCED TASER will add another effective instrument to each officer's arsenal in their effort to provide a safer community."

The ADVANCED TASER is designed to transmit electrical impulses that temporarily disrupt the body's central nervous system. The M26 will aid officers in handling and apprehending high-risk suspects. The ADVANCED TASER will be deployed by Alaska State Trooper patrolmen and Village Public Safety Officers.
