Alaska Orders Boeing 737-400s -700s and -900s.


SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1997--Alaska Airlines is adding more Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet and becoming the launch customer for the Boeing 737-900, the latest and largest derivative derivative: see calculus.

The airline today announced a firm order for 15 planes. This includes the conversion of five previous options for 737s plus a new order for ten additional 737s. The airline has also secured new options for ten other 737s.

Including both orders and options the 25 planes are collectively valued at more than $1 billion. The firm orders consist of two B737-400s to be delivered in 1998; three B737-700s to be delivered in 1999; and ten B737-900s to be delivered in 2001 and 2002. All of the aircraft will be powered by CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) The measurement of air flow. Cooling fans are rated in CFM.  56 engines.

Kelly said that the B737-900s will offer 174 seats, the B737-400s will feature 140 seats and the B737-700 will have 122 seats. All aircraft will be configured con·fig·ure

Alaska currently operates 78 aircraft -- 28 Boeing 737-400s, eight Boeing 737-200Cs and 42 McDonnell Douglas McDonnell Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft. It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company.  MD-80s -- and is now scheduled to receive nine more Boeing 737-400s in 1998.
