Gov. Frank H. Murkowski appointed Pat Hanley to the Anchorage District Court. Hanley, a 33-year Alaska resident, recently served as an assistant district attorney in the Anchorage district attorney's office. Hanley has been a public school teacher in rural Alaska and a commercial fisherman. He holds a degree in mathematics from Pacific Lutheran University Pacific Lutheran University is located in the Parkland suburb of Tacoma, Washington. As of September 2007, PLU had a student population of 3,669 and approximately 250 full-time faculty.  and a law degree from the University of Utah The University of Utah (also The U or the U of U or the UU), located in Salt Lake City, is the flagship public research university in the state of Utah, and one of 10 institutions that make up the Utah System of Higher Education.  College of Law.

Murkowski also appointed Daniel Schally to the Valdez District Court. Schally recently served as an assistant district attorney in Ketchikan. Schally has worked in the district attorney's office in Ketchikan since 1998. Prior to his work in Ketchikan, he served as a law clerk law clerk

Murkowski appointed Keith Levy to the Juneau District Court. Levy, 47, served as an assistant attorney general representing a variety of state agencies in civil litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right. The act or process of bringing a lawsuit in and of itself; a judicial contest; any dispute.
