Alaska Airlines to Increase Cargo Service to Southeast Alaska 12 Percent This Summer.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2003

Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines, (NYSE: ALK) is an airline based in Seattle, Washington, United States. It operates hubs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Portland International Airport.  will increase cargo service between Seattle Seattle (sēăt`əl), city (1990 pop. 516,259), seat of King co., W Wash., built on seven hills, between Elliott Bay of Puget Sound and Lake Washington; inc. 1869.  and several Southeast Alaska fishing communities by 12 percent this summer to meet additional seasonal demand.

The additional cargo-only flights, which begin June 8, will allow fresh fish to be shipped seamlessly to Alaska Airlines' new East Coast destinations. Previously, shipping fish cross-country required changing carriers in Seattle.

"This gives fishing companies the ability to get their product to market on the East Coast more quickly and affordably than ever before," said Keola Pang-Ching, Alaska Airlines' director of cargo.

The Alaska cities to receive nonstop HP's brand name for its fault-tolerant servers, which range in size from four CPUs to 4,000 CPUs. The NonStop line was created by Tandem Computers, which was acquired by Compaq, which later became part of HP.  cargo service to Seattle are Sitka, Wrangell and Petersburg. The increased service this summer will complement Alaska's existing five-day-a-week, cargo-only service from Juneau to Seattle. All cargo flights will complete a weekly loop out of Anchorage Anchorage (ăng`kərĭj), city (1990 pop. 226,338), Anchorage census div., S central Alaska, a port at the head of Cook Inlet; inc. 1920.  to the smaller cities then nonstop to Seattle and back to Alaska.
