Alaska Airlines and LiveTV to Offer In-Seat Satellite TV with Programming Provided by DIRECTV AIRBORNE.

) today announced an agreement with LiveTV to install its satellite television entertainment system on board one of the carrier's Boeing 737-400 aircraft.

The new service will provide passengers with a choice of 24 channels of satellite programming from the DIRECTV AIRBORNE(TM) programming service that can be viewed over LiveTV's Satellite Television In-Seat Video System installed at every seat. Alaska will evaluate a variety of programming options, pricing packages and customer usage with the intent to install the system fleet-wide after a 90-day trial period.

"LiveTV is another example of Alaska's commitment to applying innovative technology to enhance the flying experience," said Gregg Saretsky, the carrier's vice president of marketing and planning.

The installation of the system on an Alaska 737-400 is expected to be completed by March 2000. The carrier will make a decision on whether to install the system on additional aircraft after reviewing its customers' reactions to being able to choose their own entertainment in flight.
