Alaska Airlines Launches Seattle-Orlando Service with Double Frequent Flyer Miles.Business Editors SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2003 Alaska Alaska (əlă`skə), largest in area of the United States but third smallest (exceeding only Vermont and Wyoming) in population, occupying the northwest extremity of the North American continent, separated from the coterminous United States by W Canada. Airlines (NYSE:ALK) today inaugurated service between Seattle and Orlando, providing the only nonstop service between the Pacific Northwest and Central Florida. Alaska operates the daily flight with new 172-seat, Next Generation Boeing 737-900s. "Now customers not only have greater convenience but also can enjoy Alaska's award-winning service," said Gregg Saretsky, the carrier's executive vice president of marketing and planning. "The new service provides incredible opportunities for conventions and incentive travel business as well as vacationers from both ends of the route. And travelers will save hours." Orlando is Alaska's sixth East Coast destination. The airline's Seattle-Miami service, introduced last year, provides the only other nonstop service between Seattle and Florida. To celebrate the new service, Alaska Airlines is offering double Mileage Plan miles through July 31 on all flights between Seattle and Orlando, for a total of more than 10,000 miles per roundtrip. Eastbound, Flight 18 departs Seattle at 8:45 a.m. and arrives in Orlando at 5:10 p.m. Flight 19 departs Orlando at 6:00 p.m. and arrives in Seattle at 9:13 p.m. Mileage Plan, Alaska's frequent flyer program, offers 10 airline partners to choose from for mileage earning and award travel, including three major U.S. carriers--more than any other frequent flyer program. Customers who are not Mileage Plan members may enroll online at alaskaair.com and receive 500 bonus miles. Double miles are valid on qualifying paid flights operated by Alaska Airlines and credited to an Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account. Double miles apply to actual miles flown and do not count toward elite level status. The promotion is subject to change without notice, and all terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan program apply.
