Alaska Airlines Launches Nonstop Service This Weekend From Vancouver to San Francisco and Las Vegas.


SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 1997--Alaska Airlines will begin flying this weekend to two new destinations from Vancouver, B.C. - San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  and Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

The new nonstop HP's brand name for its fault-tolerant servers, which range in size from four CPUs to 4,000 CPUs. The NonStop line was created by Tandem Computers, which was acquired by Compaq, which later became part of HP.  service begins Sunday, Oct. 5, with two daily flights to San Francisco and one daily flight to Las Vegas.

Service to a third new destination from Vancouver will begin Nov. 5 when Alaska inaugurates nonstop service to Phoenix. At that time, the carrier will also add a fourth daily departure to its existing service from Vancouver to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , as well as direct service to Palm Springs through San Francisco.

The new service follows the recent increase to 16 daily departures in each direction between Vancouver and Seattle by Alaska's sister carrier, Horizon Air.
