Alaska Airlines Increases Baggage Liability Limit.

Alaska Airlines today announced that it has increased the domestic U.S. liability limit for lost or damaged baggage from $1,250 to $2,500 per ticketed customer traveling within the domestic United States effective for travel which begins today.

The increase follows the recent implementation of Alaska's "It's About You" customer commitment plan.

That plan is an outgrowth of the pledge by the nation's airlines to Congress and the traveling public, which included support for an increase in the baggage liability limit.

"It's About You" contains detailed information about how the company will accommodate the customer in situations related to fares, ticketing, special needs, delayed or overbooked flights, changes in travel plans, luggage handling, mileage awards, and travel partnerships.

Some of the enhanced services are a new 24-hour guaranteed fare, expedited cash ticket refunds, and more amenities such as a complementary hotel stay, meal or the new Alaska AirCare Kit in the event of a delay or overbooked flight. The Alaska AirCare Kit contains a phone card, a snack certificate, and a choice of a Mileage Plan credit or discount off future travel.
