Alaska Airlines Aircraft Involved in an Accident.

Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines, (NYSE: ALK) is an airline based in Seattle, Washington, United States. It operates hubs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Portland International Airport.  Flight 261 from Puerto Vallarta Puerto Vallarta (pwār`tō väyär`tä), city (1990 pop. 93,503), Jalisco state, W Mexico. Located on the expansive Bahía de Banderas [Bay of Flags], Puerto Vallarta has been used since the 16th cent.  to San Francisco went down in the water late this afternoon approximately 20 miles off Point Magu, Calif.

The flight carried 80 passengers and 5 crew (two pilots and three flight attendants).

The crew radioed a problem with stabilizer stabilizer: see airplane.  trim and the plane was diverted to Los Angeles. Flight controllers lost radio contact with the crew at approximately 4:36 p.m. PST PST Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, see there . The Coast Guard has been dispatched.

The plane, a Boeing MD-80, has no history of stabilizer trim problems. The tail number is 963. It was manufactured in 1992.

The flight was enroute from Puerto Vallarta to San Francisco continuing to Seattle when the pilot radioed with the problem. The plane was diverting to Los Angeles International Airport “LAX” redirects here. For other uses, see LAX (disambiguation).
