AlanDick provides WiFi infrastructure for First Great Western.
Wireless infrastructure specialist AlanDick is providing the radio frequency (RF) planning, system deployment and testing for WiFi hotspots on UK rail operator First Great Western's station network.
The WiFi network, which covers 85 stations in the First Great Western and First Great Western Link networks, is reportedly operated by international WiFi operator The Cloud.
According to the company, at each of the stations AlanDick engineers performed site surveys, deciding on locations for the WiFi radio access point equipment and central communications equipment. Then RF coverage surveys were carried out to decide on the most economic access point provision, and after installing all of the radio and communications equipment the company engineers tested the systems at each station, the company claims.
No financial details of the deployment were disclosed.
