It introduces an industry first: application filtering technology. With Aladdins AppliFilter, system administrators can limit the use of non-authorised Internet-enabled applications such as peer-to-peer clients (KaZaa, Morpheus and others), instant messaging agents (AIM, ICQ ("I Seek You") A conferencing program for the Internet from Mirabilis, Tel Aviv, Israel (www.icq.com). It provides interactive chat, e-mail and file transfer and can alert you when someone on your predefined list has also come online.  etc.) and other HTTP tunnelling applications.

esafes XploitStopper technology has also been updated and can now block server-based attacks such as Cod, eRed, Slammer A worm that caused a billion dollars worth of damage on the Internet on January 25, 2003. Slammer infected computers all over the Internet by generating random IP addresses and causing the computer's buffer to overflow with its own instructions that replicate itself and start the process  and other similar attacks that exploit the known vulnerabilities of application servers.

esafe version 4 also offers new anti-spam features and services, based on several technology layers and new tactics that accurately block an extremely high percentage of unsolicited email. In addition, Aladdin will offer a new real-time anti-spam prevention service that will bring to bear the proactive artificial intelligence of thousands of email hots and web crawlers that search for and constantly update its database with most current spam hash-signatures and spun URLs.

esafe version 4 is delivered as a "Virtual Appliance" platform based on a hardened Linux operating system, a web based configuration GUI/Wizard and the esafe Gateway or esafe Mail application, on one CD. Network administrators can load esafe 4 on to virtually any hardware and integrate it to popular network configurations including systems featuring Aladdin certified technology partners like CISCO AVVID AVVID Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data (Cisco)
