Aladdin Knowledge Systems (NASDAQ:ALDN), a global leader in the field of Internet content and software security, today announced its Content Security Response Team (CSRT) has produced countermeasure technology to proactively protect against all known and unknown stealthy vandals.

In response to increasing threats such as VBS.Stages, Aladdin's CSRT personnel are now providing eSafe customers with an enhanced attachment analyzer, adding protection that detects, analyzes and blocks all such SHS vandals.

The stealth mechanism within these vandals is the new and unacknowledged danger within the industry. These vandals arrive as email attachment files with a double extension such as TXT.SHS or MPEG.SHS or other variations. SHS present a dangerous threat because the SHS extension is hidden by Windows, allowing vandals, Trojans, and viruses to masquerade as legitimate files. The SHS extension is associated with special Windows Scrap files that possess a special structure enabling it to house any executable file. Executable files can be malicious script, MS Office documents containing malicious macros and even malicious screensaver files.
