Aladdin Knowledge Systems Expands Its Position in the Japanese Market; Increases Its Share in Japanese Subsidiary.

: ALDNF), a global leader in Internet and software security, today announced it has reached an agreement with Athena Research Inc., its partner in the Japanese subsidiary Aladdin Japan, to acquire Athena's 49% share in Aladdin Japan, which becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Aladdin Japan was established in 1995 jointly with Athena Research, Aladdin's long-standing distributor in Japan. Since then, Aladdin Japan has established itself as a market leader in the Japanese software security market, currently serving and supporting over 1,000 customers.

The transformation of Aladdin Japan into a fully-owned subsidiary of Aladdin will further strengthen Aladdin's leading position in the Japanese market. Aladdin is expanding its product offering in Japan, with the establishment of its Internet Security Unit. The expansion includes the recently acquired eSafe line of anti-vandal, anti-virus and security software for the Internet, and Privilege, a comprehensive suite of tools for licensing and distributing software over the Internet and other media.
